What is Braces & Aligners?
Braces and aligners are orthodontic treatments aimed at straightening teeth and correcting bite issues for improved dental health and aesthetics.
Traditional braces consist of metal brackets attached to the teeth, connected by wires and bands. These components apply gentle pressure to gradually shift teeth into the desired position over time. With advancements in orthodontic technology, there are also ceramic braces available, which are less noticeable than metal ones.
Aligners, on the other hand, are a more discreet option for teeth straightening. They are clear, removable trays custom-made to fit the patient’s teeth. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next set in the series. Aligners gradually move the teeth into alignment without the need for wires or brackets.
Both braces and aligners can address a variety of orthodontic issues, including crooked teeth, crowded teeth, gaps, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. The choice between braces and aligners often depends on factors such as the severity of the dental problem, patient preferences, and orthodontist recommendations.
Regular dental visits are necessary during orthodontic treatment to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments. After treatment, wearing retainers helps maintain the newly aligned teeth. Overall, braces and aligners offer effective solutions for achieving a straighter, healthier smile.
